Banana Wheat Ada / Pazha Ada

 

Wheat banana ada also known as Pazha ada / Gothambu Ilayada / Elayada in malayalam is a steamed banana pancake made with wheat flour and ripe banana steamed on banana leaves in the steamer. Banana Wheat Ada / Pazha Ada / Elayada / Steamed Banana Pancake recipe is with pictures.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Banana Wheat Ada / Pazha Ada / Ela Ada.

Ingredients:-

Wheat flour.     -2 cup
Ripe Banana.    -3
Grated coconut.-1cup
Jagger grated.   -1cup
Water.               -1/4 cup
Salt.                  - a pinch
Banana leaf.     -1 big cut into small pieces

Method:-

1). Peel ripe bananas and mash the peeled bananas well. In a bowl add wheat flour, mashed ripe bananas, a small pinch of salt and mix them all together using your hand. Keep aside the banana wheat mixture.

 2). In a small pan melt grated jaggery adding 1/4 cup of water. Once the jaggery dissolves in water and forth add grated coconut into the pan and mix with the melted jaggery. This coconut jaggery mixture is called churna for filling.Chop banana leaves into small square pieces. Apply little ghee on a banana leaf. Take a small portion of the banana wheat mixture and keep it on greased banana leaf. Spread and flatten the banana wheat mixture length wise on the banana leaf with your fingers. Keep a small portion of the churna (coconut jaggery mixture) on one side of the banana wheat mixture and fold the banana leaf to one side.

3). Repeat the process and make wheat banana ilayada. Keep the prepared wheat banana ilayada on idli mould plate.

4). Boil sufficient water in a idli steamer. Place the idlii mould plate with wheat banana ilayada on the steamer.

5). Cover the steamer with lid and steam the ada for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes switch off the flame. Open the steamer and remove the steamed pazha ada / banana wheat elayada from the steamer and allow it to cool. Once cooled remove the banana leaf.

Very tasty Banana Wheat Ada / Pazha Ada / Banana Wheat Ilayada is ready to serve as a teatime snack.
