Idichakka masala curry/ Tender jackfruit masala curry is a very tasty and easy to prepare spicy coconut masala curry made with tender jackfruit pieces adding freshly ground coconut masala paste and onion seasoning. Tender jackfruit curry goes well with rice. Tender jackfruit is known as idichakka in malayalam.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Idichakka Masala Curry / Tender jackfruit Curry.
Ingredients:-
Tender jackfruit.-250 gm
Onion. -1
Water. -as required
Salt. -to taste
Coconut oil. -2 tsp
For grinding Coconut Masala Paste:
Grated coconut. -1 cup
Dry red chilly. -6
Coriander seeds. -1 tbsp
Tamarind. - a gooseberry size
Instructions:-
1). Chop and remove the outer thorny skin of tender jackfruit and chop the tender jackfruit into.medium thick pieces.
2).
Grind grated coconut along with dry red chillies, coriander seeds and
tamarind to a smooth paste adding very little water. Keep aside the
freshly ground coconut masala paste
Method:-
1).
In a wide bottom pan add chopped tender jackfruit pieces, required salt and 1
cup of water. Boil and cook the tender jackfruit pieces until soft. Stir in
between.
2). Add freshly ground coconut
masala paste into the pan and mix with cooked tender jackfruit pieces. Check
for salt and add a little salt if needed. Mix well and cook for 2 minutes
on low flame and switch off the flame.
3).
Heat 1tsp coconut oil in a small pan for seasoning. Add finely chopped
onion into the pan and saute in oil till light brown. Switch off the
flame and pour the onion seasoning into the tender jackfruit masala curry
in the pan and mix well.
Idichakka Masala Curry / Tender Jackfruit Masala Curry is ready to serve with rice.
