Palappam adding Coconut Milk
Palappam is a breakfast food in Kerala. Palappam adding Coconut Milk recipe is with step by step photos. Palappam is a crispy edged round pancake made with raw rice, grated coconut, thick coconut milk, cooked white rice, instant yeast, sugar and cooked in a appachatti. Coconut milk palappam can be served with kadala curry or vegetable stew or white kurma or any side dish of your choice.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Palappam adding Coconut Milk / Coconut Milk Palappam.
Ingredients:-
Raw Rice. - 2 cup
Cooked white rice. -1/2 cup
Instant yeast. -1/2 tsp
Sugar. -2 tsp +1tsp
Grated Coconut. -3/4 cup
Thick coconut milk.-1 cup
Water. -1/2 cup +1/4cup
Salt. -to taste
Instructions:-
1). Wash raw rice and soak in water for 5 hours. Dain water and grind the soaked rice along with grated coconut, cooked white rice, instant yeast, sugar, thick coconut milk and 1/4 cup of water to a smooth paste.Transfer the ground palappam batter to a vessel.
2). Keep aside the vessel with ground palappam batter to ferment for 4 to 6 hours.3). Mix the fermented palappam batter with a ladle. You can keep the fermented palappam batter in the refrigerator without adding salt.
Method:-
1). Take the required amount of fermented palappam batter in a bowl.Add required salt, 1tsp sugar and little water into the batter and mix well.
2). Mix the batter well and make a little loose dosa batter consistency.
3). Heat a non stick appachatti on medium flame.4). Mix the palappam batter and take a ladle of batter and pour it in the center of the hot appachatti.
5). Hold both sides of the appachatti using your hands and slightly lift the appachatti. Twist and rotate it in a circular motion to spread the batter on appachatti and make a round shape palappam.
6). Cover the appachatiy with its lid and cook the palappam till soft in the middle and crisp on all its edges.
7). Open the lid and remove the cooked palappam from appachatti and transfer to a plate. Repeat the same process of making palappam with the remaining batter in the bowl and transfer to the plate.
Palappam adding Coconut Milk / Coconut Milk Palappam is ready to serve with kadala curry or vegetable stew or white kurma or any side dish of your choice for breakfast.
