Medu Bonda / Urad dal Bonda
Medu bonda / Urad dal bonda is a healthy and easy to prepare deep fried teatime snack made with whole white urad dal.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Medu Bonda / Urad dal Bonda.
Ingredients:-
Whole white urad dal.-1 cup
Rice flour. -2 tbsp
Onion. -1
Green chilly. -2
Ginger chopped.-1tsp
Pepper corn. -2 tsp
Curry leaves. -few
Salt. -to taste
Oil. - for deep frying
Method:
1). Wash and soak whole white urad dal in enough water for 2-3 hours. Drain water completely from soaked urad dal and grind it in a mixer to a smooth and thick fluffy batter.
2). Transfer the ground thick urad dal batter to a vessel. Add rice flour, finely chopped onion, thinly chopped green chillies, finely chopped ginger, crushed pepper corn, a few chopped curry leaves, required salt and a pinch of asafoetida into the thick urad dal batter and mix well.
3). Heat oil in a deep frying kadai. Wet your hand in water and take a small portion of the thick urad dal batter mixture in your hand and drop it in hot oil and deep fry it until crisp and golden colour on all sides. Deep fry the medu bonda in batches. Repeat the process and deep fry the bonda in hot oil with the remaining batter and transfer to a bowl.
Medu Bonda / Urad dal Bonda is ready to serve with hot tea or coffee.
