A tasty Lemon Rasam made with Toor dal, Tomato, Green chilly, Ginger, Rasam powder, Hing powder,Curry leaves, Lemon Juice and other spices.The following ingredients are needed to prepare Lemon Rasam.

Toor dal. -1/2cup
Green chillies. -3
Ginger. -1tsp chopped
Turmeric powder.- a pinch
Tomato. - 2 medium size
Rasam powder. - 2 tsp
Hing powder. -1/2tsp
Salt. - to taste
Lemon Juice. - from 2 small Lemons.
Coriander leaves. - few chopped
For Seasoning:-
Cooking oil. -1tsp
Mustard seeds. -1tsp
Dry Red chilly. -1[broken into halves]
Cumin seeds. -1/2tsp
Curry leaves. -1spring
Instructions:-
Wash and half slit Green Chillies and keep aside.
Peel, wash and chop Ginger into small thin pieces and keep aside.
Wash and pressure cook Toor dal adding Turmeric powder and 2cup of water for 3 whistles or till soft and keep aside.
In a small bowl add Rasam powder and Hing powder and mix well by adding little water and make a mixture and keep aside.
Method:-
In a cooking vessel add chopped Tomato pieces, half slit Green chillies, chopped Ginger pieces and 1cup of water and boil till the Tomato pieces becomes soft.Add Salt and mix well.
Add Rasam powder and Hing powder mixture and mix well and boil for 2 minutes.
Add cooked Toor dal.Add water to adjust the consistency and boil for 2 minutes and switch off the flame.
When little cooled squeeze Lemon juice to the Rasam and mix well.Adjust Salt and mix well.
Heat oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds and saute well.
Add dry Red chilly broken into halves and add Curry leaves. Fry for a second and switch off the flame.
Add the above seasoning into the Rasam and mix well.
Lastly add few chopped Coriander leaves and mix everything well.
A tasty and delicious Lemon Rasam is ready to serve with steamed Rice.
