Moong Dal Rasam is a healthy and delicious lentil soup made by using split yellow Moong dal cooked with Tomato, Rasam powder, Hing powder and other spices.The following ingredients are needed to prepare Moong dal Rasam.
Ingredients:-
Moong dal. -1/2 cup
Tomato. -2 medium size
Lemon. -1 big

Green chillies. -2
Turmeric powder. - a pinch
Rasam powder. -2 tbsp
Hing powder. -1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves. -few chopped
Salt. -to taste.

For Seasoning:-
Cooking oil. -1tsp
Mustard seeds. -1tsp
Cumin seeds. -1/2 tsp
Dry Red chilly. -1
Curry leaves. -1 spring
Instructions:-
Wash and chop Tomatoes into medium pieces and keep aside.
Wash and half slit Green chillies and keep aside.
Wash and chop Ginger into small thin pieces and keep aside.[about 1tsp]
Wash and pressure cook split Moong dal adding Turmeric powder, chopped Ginger and 2 cup of Water for 3 whistles and keep aside.
In a small bowl add Rasam powder and Hing powder and mix well without any lumps and keep aside the mixture.
Method:-
In a cooking vessel add the chopped Tomato pieces and half slit Green chillies adding 2 cup of water till Tomato pieces become soft.
Add the pressure cooked Moong dal and mix well with the cooked Tomato pieces.
Add Salt and mix well.Boil and cook for 2 minutes.
Add Rasam powder and Hing powder mixture and mix well.Boil again for few minutes and switch off the flame.
Heat oil in a small pan for seasoning and splutter Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds and saute well.
Add dry Red chilly broken into halves and Curry leaves.Fry well and switch off the flame.
Pour the above seasoning into the Rasam in the cooking vessel.
When little cooled squeeze lemon juice into the Rasam in the cooking vessel and mix well.Check for Salt and mix well.
Lastly add few chopped Coriander leaves and mix well.
A tasty healthy and delicious Moong dal Rasam is ready to serve hot with steamed Rice.
