THARNI AMBADI THIKSANI HUMMAAN/ Spicy Tender Hog plum


Tender Hog plum is called Jeevi Ambadi in Konkani.We can make a spicy ,tangy curry with the tender Hog plum.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare this delicious recipe.

Ingredients:-


Hog plum (Ambadi)  -10 tender
Salt.                            -to taste


For Seasoning:-

Coconut oil.            - 2tsp + 1 tsp

Urad dal.                 - 1tsp
Mustard seeds.        -1tsp
Fenugreek (Methi). - 8 or 10 seeds only
Red Chilly powder. - 1tsp
Hing powder.           -1tsp 

Instructions:-

 1). Wash and chop tender Hog plum /Ambadi into small cubes and apply little Salt and keep aside for 10 minutes.

Method:-

1). Heat 2tsp Coconut oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds Add Urad dal, and Fenugreek (Methi) seeds and saute well till Urad dal starts to change its colour and a nice aroma spreads.

2). Add the marinated tender Hog plum (Ambadi)  pieces and saute well and fry for a minute.

3). Add required Salt and mix well with the Hog plum pieces.

4). Sprinkle little water and stir well till the tender Hog plum pieces becomes little soft on low flame

5). Lower the flame and add Red chilli powder and mix well with the Hog plum pieces.Add little water and boil well till the Hog plum cooked and mix with the Red chilly powder.

6). Add Hing powder into the pan and mix well.

7). Lastly pour 1tsp Coconut oil over the Ambadi Thiksani hummaan in the pan.

Tharni Ambadi Thiksani Hummaan /Spicy Tender Hog plum is ready to serve with dosa,idli and can also be served as a side dish with rice.

You can prepare this Thiksani hummaan with tender green Mango (Ambuli) instead of  adding tender Hog plum (Ambadi).
