Venti Gojju / Taro stem Gojju.

Taro Stem is called Venti in Konkani. Venti Gojju is a tasty and delicious Taro Stem Chutney goes well as a side dish with Dosa, Idli, Rice etc.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Taro Stem Gojju / Venti Gojju.

Ingredients:-

1. Taro stems.           -15 or 20
2. Red chillies.         - 4
3. Urad dal.              -1tsp
4. Chana dal.            -1tsp
5. Coriander seeds.  -1and 1/2tsp
6. Jaggery.                - a marble size
7. Methi seeds.         -1/4tsp
8. Tamarind.             - a goose berry size
9.Turmeric powder. -14tsp
10. Hing powder.      -1tsp
11. Coconut oil.         -1tsp
12. Mustard seeds.     -1tsp
13. Curry leaves.        -1spring

Instructions:-

1. Remove the Taro Leaves from Taro stems.



2. Peel the skin  of the Taro Stems.

  

3. Finely chop the Taro Stems and wash well in water. Drain and keep aside.



4. Heat little oil in a pan and roast the Red chillies, Urad dal, Chana dal, Coriander seeds and Methi seeds. 

5. When little cooled ground the above roasted ingredients along with Turmeric powder and Hing powder to a smooth paste without adding water.


Method:-

1. In a vessel add the chopped Taro stems, Tamarind, required Salt and 1cup of Water. Boil and cook till the Taro stems become soft.

2. Add the ground paste and mix well with the cooked Taro stems.

3. Mix all the ingredients together and cook for 2 minutes. Saute in between.Transfer to a bowl.

4. Heat oil in a pan for seasoning and splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.

5. Add Curry leaves and fry in oil and switch off the flame.

6. Add the above seasoning into the Venti Gojju  in the bowl.

A tasty  and deliciousVenti Gojju / Taro Stem Gojju is ready to serve as a side dish with Dosa, Idli, Rice etc.
