Bansi Rava is a corasly ground form of wheat, rich yellow in colour, made from Bansi variety of Wheat called 'Durum wheat'.It is used for making Upma and Rava Kesari.Duram wheat has a very high protein content.Bansi Rava contains fibre which is essential to our diet.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Bansi Rava Upma
Ingredients:-
Bansi Rava. -2 cup
Green peas. -1cup frozen
Urad dal. -1tsp
Mustard seeds . -1tsp
Cumin seeds. -1/2tsp
Green chillies. - 3
Curry leaves. -1spring
Cashewnuts. - few
Ghee. -1tbsp +2tsp
Salt. -to taste
Instructions:-
Wash and half slit Green Chillies and keep aside.
Take 1cup Bansi Rava and keep aside.
Take 1cup frozen Green peas and keep aside.
Method:-
Heat 2tsp Ghee in a pan and roast the Cashewnuts and keep aside on a plate.
In the same pan add the Bansi Rava and roast well in Ghee stirring continuously for a minute on low flame and keep aside on another plate.
Heat 1tbsp Ghee in the same pan and add Urad dal and saute well.
When Urad dal starts to change its colour splutter Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds and saute well.
Add Green chillies and Curry leaves and fry in oil.
Add the frozen Green peas and saute well.
Add required Salt and 3 cups of water and boil for a minute.
Add more water [4 cups] and boil well.Add the roasted Bansi Rava and mix well and boil on low flame stir continuously.
Add roasted Cashews and stir well continuously till the water absorbs and the Rava cooked well.
Add 1tsp Ghee and stir well.Then switch off the flame.
A tasty Bansi Rava Upma is ready to serve hot.
BANSI RAVA UPMA / BROKEN WHEAT UPMA -STEP BY STEP METHOD WITH PHOTOS
Method:-
1.Take 1cup Bansi Rava /Broken Wheat and keep aside.
2.Take 1 cup frozen Green Peas and keep aside.
3.Heat 1tsp Ghee in a pan and roast Cashew nuts and keep aside on a plate.
5. Heat 1tbsp Ghee in the same pan and add Urad dal.Saute well.
6. When Urad dal starts to change its colour splutter Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds and saute well.
8. Add the frozen Green peas and saute well.
9. Add required Salt and 3cups of water and boil for a minute.
10. Add more water [ 4 cups] and boil well. Add the roasted Bansi Rava and mix well and boil on low flame.Stir well continuously.
11. Add roasted Cashews and stir continuously till the water absorbs and the Rava cooked well.
12. Add 1tsp Ghee and stir well. Then switch off the flame.
