Roasted Coconut Masala Curry is called Soyi Bajjilli Ghassi in Konkani.This Coconut Masala Curry is prepared in Kochi GSB style.Kochi GSB people prepare Soyi Bajjilli Ghassi/ Roasted Coconut Masala Curry using various Vegetables,lentils and Pulses.Each Roasted Coconut Masala Curry /Soyi Bajjilli Ghassi has its own taste.This Masala Curry/ Soyi Bajjilli Ghassi is prepared with a special Coconut Masala paste called Soyi Bajjillo Masolu /roasted Coconut Masala Paste.In this recipe Broad beans and Potatoes are used as vegetables.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare this delicious Overo & Potato Soyi Bajjilli Ghassi.
Ingredients:-
Broad beans (Overo). -1 cup
Potato. - 2 medium size
Dharambe sol (Kudam puli). - a small piece
Salt. - to taste

For roasted Coconut Masala Paste/Soyi Bajjillo Masolu:-
Coriander seeds. - 2 tbsp
Urad dal. -2 tbsp
Dry Red chillies. -10
Coconut grating. - 1/2 of a Coconut
Turmeric powder. -a small pinch
Instructions:-
1). For preparing Roasted Coconut Masala Paste (Soyi Bajjillo Massolo).
i). In a pan dry roast Coriander seeds seperately till a nice aroma comes and transfer to a plate
ii). Dry roast Urad dal &dry Red chillies together till the dal change its colour to golden and Chillies became crispy.Transfer the plate.
iii). In the same pan add little Coconut oil and roast the grated Coconut till golden colour.Switch off the flame and keep aside the roasted ingredients to cool.
iv). Add a pinch of Turmeric powder and mix with all the roasted ingredients.
v). Grind the roasted items to a fine paste till the oil seperates without adding water. When cooled, store the ground Coconut Masala paste (Soyi Bajjillo Masolu) in a air tight container.

2). Wash, soak and pressure cook Broad beans /Overo till soft adding required Water and keep aside.
3). Peel, wash and chop Potatoes into medium square pieces and keep aside.
Method:-
1). In a cooking vessel boil 2 cup of Water and add the chopped Potato pieces and cook till soft.Add the cooked Broad beans (Overo) and mix with the cooked Potatoes.
2). Add required Salt and a small piece of Dharambe sol (Kudampuli) into the cooking vessel and mix well.Cover the cooking vessel with a lid and cook for 2 minutes on low flame.
3). Add 3 tbsp of ground Coconut Masala paste (Soyi Bajjillo Masolu) into the cooking vessel and mix well with the cooked Broad Beans and Potatoes.The consistency of the dish is semi thick and not a pouring consistency.Add required water to the desired consistency and bring it to boil. Then simmer for 2 minutes and switch off the flame.
4). No seasoning in this Soyi Bajjilli Ghassi / Roasted Coconut Masala Curry.Transfer the curry to a serving bowl.
A delicious and yummy Overo & Potato Soyi Bajjilli Ghassi / Broad beans &Potato Roasted Coconut Masala curry is ready to serve with rice.
