Banana Flowers /Banana Blossams are called Bondi in Konkani.Banana flowers contain rich source of Vitamins and Minerals.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare this delicious Banana flowers stir fry.
Ingredients:-
Banana flower. -1
Salt. -to taste
For grinding the Coconut Masala paste:-
Coconut grating. -1cup
Red chillies. -3
Turmeric powder. -1/4tsp
For Seasoning:-
Coconut oil. - 2tbsp
Urad dal. -1tsp
Mustard seeds. - 1tsp
Red chilly. - 1broken into two halves
Instructions:-
Seperate the florets inside the reddish Banana flower leaves and pluck the Pistil,Style and scale like outer most petal inside each florets and finely chop the florets and keep them immediately in Water to prevent the colour change and bitterness.Rinse in Water two three times, drain and squeeze out the water and keep aside.
Grind 1cup grated Coconut, 3 dry Red chillies and 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder to a coarse paste.Keep aside.
Method:
Heat 2tbsp Coconut Oil in a pan and Splutter 1tsp Mustard seeds.Add 1tsp Urad dal, one dry Red chilly broken into two and saute well.
Add the finely chopped Banana flowers and stir well and cook for 5 minutes till the Flowers cooked.
Add Salt and mix well.Cook till the water from the flowers evaporates.
Add the coarsely ground Coconut Masala and mix well.Donot add Water.Stir in between and when done switch off the flame.
A tasty Banana Flowers Coconut Masala Sir fry/ Bondi Sukke is ready to serve as a side dish with Rice.
