KULITHU & KUK SUKKE- a Konkani dish/ Horse gram & Potato Coconut Masala

Horse gram is called Kulithu and Kuk is called Potato in Konkani.Kulithu & Kuk Sukke is a Konkani dish.Horse gram and Potato  cooked and mixed with the ground Masala paste of Coconut grating and other spices.The recipe is simple and easy to cook.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare this delicious Kulithu& Kuk Sukke.

Ingredients:-


Horse gram.     -1 cup
Potat.o              -2 medium size
Salt                 . -to taste




For mixing the Coconut Masala:-


Coconut grated.     -1 cup
Red chilly powder. -1tsp
Turmeric powder.   -1/4 tsp




For Seasoning:-


Coconut Oi/Oil. - 2tbsp
Urad dal.           -1tsp
Mustard seeds. -1tsp
Methi seeds.     -10 seeds




Instructions:-


Clean wash and soak 1cup Horse gram for 8 hours or overnight.

Pressure cook the soaked Horse gram with 2 medium size Potato chopped into small pieces adding little Salt and required Water for 7 whistles.Keep aside.

Grate 1cup Coconut and mix  with 1tsp Red Chilly powder and 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder.Keep aside.

Method:-


Heat 2 tbsp Coconut Oil in a pan and splutter 1tsp Mustard seeds.

Add 1tsp Urad dal and 1/4 tsp Methi seeds and let them be little brown.

Add cooked Horse gram and Potato pieces and saute for a minute.

Add Salt and sprinkle little Water.Mix well.

Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 2 minutes.

Add the Coconut Chilly powder mixture and stir well and mix with the cooked Horse gram and cooked Potato pieces.Cover and cook for a minute and  switch off the flame.

A tasty Horse gram Potato Sukke is ready to serve as a side dish with Rice
