PIKKALLE KELA & ONION UPKARI-a Konkani dish / Ripe Banana & Onion Stir Fry.

Ripe Banana & Onion Stir fry is called Pikkele Kela& Onion.Upkari in Konkani.It is a very tasty Konkani dish.Very simple and easy to prepare recipe.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare this Ripe Banana & Onion stir fry.

Ingredients:-

Nendran Banana. -2 ripe
Salt.                     -to taste.


For Seasoning:-

Coconut Oil.    -1tbsp
Mustard seeds. - 1 tsp
Curry leaves.    -1 spring
Onion.               -1 medium size
Chilly powder.  -1tsp
Tamarind.          -a small piece
Hing powder.    -1/4 tsp


Instructions:-

Peel the skin and chop Nandren Bananas/Kerala Bananas into medium roundels and keep aside.

Peel and chop Onion into medium big pieces and keep aside.

Soak a small piece of Tamarind in hot water for 5 minutes and extract 1tsp Tamarind juice.Keep aside.



Method:-

Heat Oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds.

Add Curry leaves and saute well and fry for a second.

Add chopped Onion and saute well till the Onion becomes translucent.

Lower the flame and add Red Chilly powder and saute well.

Add Tamarind juice and mix well.

Add 1/4 tsp Hing powder and mix well.

Add the ripe Nendran banana chopped roundels and sprinkle little Water and mix well.

Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low flame for 2 minutes.Then mix everything well and switch off the flame.

A yummy, litttle sweet and Ripe banana &Onion Stir fry is ready to serve with Rice as a side dish.
