The following ingredients are needed to prepare yummy and delicious White Chana Masala / Kadala Masala Curry, goes well as a side dish with rice.
Ingredients:-
Cinnamon. -1 small stick
Cloves. -2
Cardamom. -2
Green chilly - 2 small
Tomato. - 2 medium size
Coriander powder. -2 tsp
Chilly powder. -1 tbsp
Turmeric powder. - 1/4 tsp
Mustard seeds. -1/2 tsp
Cooking oil. -1 tbsp
Salt. - to taste.
Ginger. - a small piece
Garlic. - 2 cloves
Onion. - 4 medium size
Curry leaves. -1 spring
Coriander leaves. - few
Instructions:-
Wash and soak white Chana / White whole Bengal gram in water for 8 hours or overnight and pressure cook the soaked Chana adding required Water for 4 whistles or till soft and keep aside.
Peel the skin of Ginger and Garlic and crush them and keep aside.
Peel and finely chop Onion and keep aside.
Grind the Cinnamon, Cloves, Cardamom, crushed Ginger and Garlic to a smooth paste.Keep aside the ground paste.
Wash and slit Green chillies lengthwise and keep aside.
Wash and finely chop Tomatoes and keep aside.
Wash and finely chop few Coriander leaves and keep aside.
Method:-
Heat Cooking oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.
Add the finely chopped Onion and salt and saute well till the Onion becomes translucent and reddish brown in colour.
Add half slit Green chillies and Curry leaves and fry for a second.
Add Coriander powder, Red Chilly powder and Turmeric powder and saute well on low flame.
Add the finely chopped Tomatoes and saute well till Tomato pieces become mushy.
Add finely chopped few Coriander leaves and saute well.
Add the cooked White Chana into the pan and mix well.
Lastly add the ground paste and little water and required Salt into the pan and mix well. Cover and cook for 10 minutes on low flame and stir in between.Switch off the flame.
