Kelya Modoku is a Kochi GSB style deep fried sweet snack made with Rice, Jaggery and small Bananas.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Kelya Modoku.
Ingredients:-
Boiled Rice. - 2 cup or Raw Rice.
Jaggery. -3/4 cup
Grated Coconut.- 1/2 cup
Banana. -5 small
Salt. - a pinch
Instructions:-

Ingredients:-
Boiled Rice. - 2 cup or Raw Rice.
Jaggery. -3/4 cup
Grated Coconut.- 1/2 cup

Instructions:-
Wash and soak boiled Rice in Water for 8 hours or overnight.
Grate Jaggery with a Kitchen knife and keep aside.
Peel the skin of small banana and mash the bananas thoroughly with hands and keep aside on a plate.
Grind the soaked Rice along with grated Jaggery, grated Coconut, mashed Banana and a pinch of Salt to a medium thick and little coarse batter without adding Water.The batter should have a dropping consistency.
Method:-
Heat oil in a deep frying pan on medium flame.
Dip your hands in Water to avoid sticking and take a small portion of the batter and gently drop the batter into the hot oil and deep fry to a deep golden brown colour.Repeat with the remaining batter.
Flip and turn the Modoku in hot oil several times with a deep frying spatula to fry all the sides and to cook inside.
Remove from hot oil and transfer to a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.
Kelya Modoku is ready to serve as a snack with hot Tea or Coffee.
