The following ingredients are needed to prepare Papaya Pachadi.
Ingredients:-
Raw Papaya. -1medium size
Red chilly powder. -1/4tsp
Turmeric powder. -1/4tsp
Salt. - to taste
For grinding the Coconut masala paste:-
Grated Coconut. -1cup
Green chillies. -3
Cumin seeds. -1/2tsp
Mustard seeds. -1/4 tsp
Shallots. - 4
Garlic. -2 cloves
For Seasoning:-
Coconut oil. -2tsp
Mustard seeds. -1/2tsp
Fenugreek seeds. -1/4tsp
Dry Red chillies. -2
Curry leaves. -1spring
Instructions:-
Remove the outer skin of a raw Papaya and wash well.Chop the raw Papaya lengthwise and remove the seeds.Again chop the Papaya into small thin pieces and keep aside.
Peel the Shallots and Garlic.Keep aside.
Grind the grated Coconut along with Shallots, Garlic, Green chillies, Cumin seeds and Mustard Seeds to a fine paste and keep aside the ground Coconut Masala paste.
Broke the dry Red chillies into pieces and keep aside.
Method :-
In a flat bottom vessel add the chopped raw Papaya pieces. Add Red chilly powder and Turmeric powder and mix with the chopped raw Papaya pieces.
Add required Salt and 1/2 cup of water. Cover and cook the chopped raw Papaya pieces on low flame till tender.
Add the ground Coconut Masala paste and 1/4 cup of water and mix with the cooked Papaya pieces.Boil and cook on low flame for 2 minutes.
Add Curd and mix well. When the bubbles starts to appear switch off the flame.
Heat oil in a pan for seasoning and splutter Mustard seeds and Fenugreek seeds and saute well.
Add broken dry Red chilly pieces and Curry leaves. Saute well and fry in oil and switch off the flame.
Pour the above seasoning into the Curry in the flat bottom vessel.
A very tasty and delicious Papaya Pachadi is ready to serve with Rice.
