Horse gram is called Kulithu in Konkani. Horse gram Coriander Chutney is a coconut based tasty side dish made with Horse gram, Coriander leaves and other ingredients.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Horse gram Coriander Chutney.

Ingredients:-
Horse gram. - 1/2 cup
Shallots. - 6
Urad dal. -1tsp
Roasted gram. -1tsp (Pottukadala)
Dry Red chillies. -5
Curry leaves. -1spring
Coriander leaves. -1 bunch
Grated Coconut. -1/2 cup
Garlic. - 4 cloves
Tamarind. - a marble size
Salt. - to taste
For Seasoning:-
Oil. -1tsp
Mustard seeds. -1tsp
Dry Red chilly. -1(broken into halves)
Curry leaves. -1spring
Instructions:-
Wash the Horse gram, remove the stones and drain water completely and keep aside.
Heat a pan and dry roast the Horse gram till nice aroma comes and Horse gram starts to splutter. Keep aside to cool.
In the same pan dry roast Urad dal and Roasted gram[Pottukadala] till nice aroma comes and the Urad dal becomes little golden colour. Keep aside.
In the same pan heat 1/4 tsp Coconut oil and roast the Red chillies and keep aside.In the same pan add Shallots and Garlic and saute well.Add grated Coconut and roast for 5 minutes on low flame.Add Curry leaves and Coriander leaves and fry well for 5 minutes. Keep aside.
Method:-
Grind all the roasted ingredients [Horse gram, Urad dal, Roasted gram, Red chillies, Shallots, Garlic, grated Coconut, Curry leaves and Coriander leaves] along with Tamarind, and required Salt to a fine paste adding very little water.
Transfer the ground Horse gram Chutney to a serving bowl.
Heat oil in a pan for seasoning and splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.Add the broken Red chilly halves and Curry leaves.Fry well and switch off the flame.
Pour the above seasoning into the Horse gram Chutney in the serving bowl.
A tasty Horse Gram Coriander Chutney is ready to serve with dosa, idli etc.
