Sprouted Green Gram and Drumstick Ghassi / Kirlaylolo Mugu ani Mashinga Sange Ghassi.(Konkani Recipe)


Drumstick is called Mashinga Saang and sprouted Green gram is called Kirlaylolo Mugu in Konkani. A very tasty and healthy GSB Konkani style coconut based sprouted green gram and drumstick curry goes well with rice.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Sprouted Green Gram and Drumstick Ghassi / Kirlaylolo Mugu ani Mashinga Sange Ghassi.

Ingredients:-

Sprouted Green gram. - 1 cup
Drumstick.                   - 4
Raw Mango                  - 2 small piece.

For grinding Coconut Masala paste:-

Grated Coconut.   -1cup
Dry Red chillies.  - 4
Turmeric powder. -1/4tsp

For Seasoning:-

Coconut oil.     -1tsp
Urad dal.          -1tsp
Mustard seeds. -1tsp

Instructions:-

1. Wash and soak Green gram in water  for 8 hours or overnight. Put the soaked Green gram in a colander and drain water. Then keep the soaked Green gram on a clean cotton cloth. Bring togther all the edges of the cloth and make a tight knot and keep it on a container. Keep the container on a warm place to sprout the Green gram.After 1 or 2 days the Green gram starts to sprout.

2. Pressure cook the sprouted Green gram adding 2 cup of water for 2 whistles and keep aside.

3. Remove the fibre like outer skin of the Drumstick and chop into 1and 1/2 inch lengthy pieces and keep aside.

4. Grind grated Coconut, dry Red chillies and Turmeric powder to a smooth paste. Keep aside the ground Coconut Masala paste.

Method:-

1. In cooking vessel add the chopped Drumstick pieces and 2 cup of water. Boil and cook for 2 minutes on low flame.

2. Add the cooked Green gram into the cooking vessel and mix well.

3. Add required Salt and 2 small piece of raw Mango into the curry and boil well.

4. Add the ground Coconut Masala paste and mix well. Boil and cook till the raw smell of the Coconut Masala paste goes away.Mix well and switch off the flame.

5. Heat Coconut oil in a pan for seasoning. Add Urad dal and saute well.Splutter Mustard seeds and saute well. Switch off the flame.

6. Pour the above seasoning into the Ghassi in the cooking vessel.

7. Transfer the Sprouted Green Gram and Drumstick Ghassi to a serving bowl.

A very tasty and healthy Sprouted Green Gram and Drumstick Ghassi / Kirlaylolo Mugu ani Mashinga Sange Ghassi is ready to serve with rice.
