Polya Phadi Kalleyleli


Polya Phadi Kalleyli (dosa bits sweet snack) is a traditional Kochi GSB Konkani style delicious sweet dish.A healthy Konkani sweet snack, Polya Phadi Kalleyleli recipe is explained with step by step method and photos.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Polya Phadi Kalleyleli.

Ingredients:-

Kerala Matta Rice.         -1 cup
Freshly grated Coconut. -1cup
Grated Jaggery.               -3/4cup
Cardamom.                     - 6
Salt.                                 - to taste

Instructions:-

1). Wash Kerala Matta Rice and soak in water for 6 hours.

2). Drain water and grind the soaked Matta Rice along with required Salt to a smooth dosa batter adding little water. 


3). Transfer the ground Matta rice batter to a bowl.

4). Add required water to the ground dosa batter and make it to a normal dosa batter consistency and mix well with a ladle.

5). Heat a dosa tawa on medium flame.Sprinkle little water and wipe the hot tawa with a clean cloth.

6). Lower the flame and pour little rice batter on tawa and immediately spread it with the back of the laddle and make small dosa.Cover and cook dosa on low flame.

7).  Flip the dosa with a flat spatula to cook other side.

8). Transfer the roasted small dosa to a plate.Make small small dosas with the remaining rice batter and keep the roasted small dosas on a plate.

9). Chop the prepared small dosas into small square or rectangular shape pieces with a knife and keep aside.


10). Peel and crush Cardamom and keep aside.

Method:-

1). Freshly grate Coconut.Grate Jaggery with a knife or crush Jaggery without lumps. In a bowl add the freshly grated Coconut, grated or crushed Jaggery and crushed Cardamom.

2). Mix all the ingredients in the bowl with a spoon and add chopped dosa pieces into the bowl.

3). Mix the chopped dosa pieces with the Coconut Jaggery mixture using a spoon.


A tasty and healthy sweet dish, Polya Phadi Kalleyleli (dosa bits sweet snack) is ready to serve.
