Watermelon Rind Dosa is a very tasty and instant dosa made with white part of the watermelon rind and can be served with spicy chutney.White part seen in between thin green outer skin and pink juicy flesh of the watermelon is used in this recipe. Watermelon Rind Dosa recipe is explained with step by step method and photos.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Watermelon Rind Dosa.
Ingredients:-
Watermelon rind. -3 cup (white part only)
Idli Rice. -2 cup
Grated coconut. -1 cup
Thin Poha. -1 cup
Salt. - to taste.
Ghee. - for roasting dosa
Instructions:-
1). Cut a watermelon and take the white part of the rind seen in between the green outer skin and pink juicy flesh of the watermelon.Wash the white part of the rind and chop into very small pieces.
2). Wash thin poha (beaten rice) and soak in water for 5 minutes just before grinding.Wash and soak idli rice in water for 6 hours. Drain water completely and grind the soaked idli rice along with grated coconut, soaked thin poha, chopped watermelon rinds and required salt to a smooth and semi thick batter of pouring consistency. Keep aside the ground batter. No need to ferment the batter.
Method:-
1) Heat a non stick dosa tawa on medium flame and grease with little ghee.
2). Mix the batter well and take a ladle full of dosa batter.
3). Pour the batter on hot tawa and spread immediately with the back of the ladle and make a round shape dosa.
4). Cover the dosa with a lid and cook on medium flame.
5). Open the lid and apply little ghee over the dosa and roast well.
6). Flip the dosa with a flat spatula to cook the other side.
7). Remove the well roasted dosa from tawa and transferred to a serving plate. Make watermelon rind dosas with the remaining batter.
8). Watermelon Rind Dosa is ready to serve with asafoetida flavoured hinga chutney.
