Cabbage Manchurian


Cabbage manchurian is a delicious side dish that can be served with chapathi, phulka, naan, roti, fried rice etc. Cabbage manchurian recipe is given with step by step method and photos.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Cabbage Manchurian.

Ingredients:-

Cabbage.                     -1 cup chopped
Carrot.                         -1/4 cup chopped
Capsicum.                    -1
Onion.                           - 2 big
Ginger chopped.           -1tsp
Garlic chopped.            -1tsp +1tbsp
Green chilly.                 -1+1
Salt.                               - to taste
Celery.                           - 2 stalks
Soya sauce.                    -1tbsp
Green chilly sauce.        -1 and 1/2tsp
Red chilly sauce.            -1 and 1/2tsp
Tomato ketchup.             - 2tbsp
Vinegar.                           -1tsp
Sugar.                               -1/2tsp
Oil.                                   - 2 tbsp + for frying
Corn flour.                        - 2tbsp +1tbsp
Maida /All purpose flour. -2tbsp
Pepper powder.                 -1/2tsp

Instructions:-

1). Peel and roughly chop onion, roughly chop capsicum, thinly chop cabbage and carrot, finely chop ginger, garlic and 2 green chillies, finely chop celery stalk and leaves. Keep aside.

2). In a small bowl add 1tbsp of corn flour and 2tbsp of water and mix well without lumps. Keep aside the corn flour slurry.

Method:-

1). In a mixing bowl add chopped cabbage, chopped carrot, one chopped green chilly, chopped ginger, 1tsp chopped garlic and required salt. Add 2 tbsp of corn flour into the mixing bowl. Mix together all the ingredients and knead well without adding water and make it into small soft cabbage balls.

 
2). Deep fry the soft cabbage balls in hot oil on medium flame until it is golden brown. Deep fry them in batches and keep aside.
 
3). Heat oil in a wide bottom pan and add 1tbsp of chopped garlic, one chopped green chilly and finely chopped celery stalk into the pan and fry in oil for a second.
 
4). Add roughly chopped onion into the pan and saute well in oil till translucent.
 
5). Add roughly chopped capsicum into the pan and saute well.
 
6). Add soya sauce, green chilly sauce, red chilly sauce, tomato ketchup, pepper powder and required salt into the pan and saute well.
 
7). Add 2 cup of water, sugar and vinegar into the pan and boil well.Add corn flour slurry into the pan and boil for a minute and mix well.
 
8). Add deep fried cabbage balls into the pan.
 
9). Add finely chopped celery leaves into the pan and mix well.

10). Mix all the ingredients in the pan and boil on low flame till the curry becomes thick. Switch off the flame.
 
11). Transfer the Cabbage Manchurian to a serving bowl.

Cabbage Manchurian is ready to serve.
