The following ingredients are needed to prepare for Green Turkey berry Dal Curry.
Ingredients:-
Green Turkey berry. - 3/4 cup
Tur dal. -1/2 cup
Shallots (small onion). - 5 chopped
Tomato. -1or 2 chopped
Tamarind. - a marble size
Turmeric powder. -1/4 tsp
Sambar powder. -1tbsp
Hing powder. -1/4 tsp
Dry red chilly. -1broken
Cumin seeds. -1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds. -1/2 tsp
Curry leaves. -1 spring
Oil. - 2 tbsp
Salt. - to taste
1). Wash and chop turkey berries into halves and keep them in water to prevent darkening.
2). Wash tur dal and pressure cook adding sufficient water for 2 whistles and keep aside.
3). Soak tamarind in little water and make tamarind juice and keep aside.
Preparation Method With Step by Step Photos:-
1). Heat 2 tbsp oil in a wide bottom pan and splutter mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add broken dry red chilly, chopped shallots and curry leaves into the pan and saute well. Add chopped turkey berry halves without water and saute well in oil for few minutes on low flame.
2). Add chopped tomato and required salt into the pan and saute well till tomato becomes mushy.
3). Add tamarind juice, turmeric powder and sambar powder into the pan and saute well.
4). Add cooked tur dal into the pan and mix well.
5). Add hing powder and 1/4 cup of water into the pan. Mix well and make a semi thick gravy consistency.
6). Boil and cook the turkey berry dal curry for 2 minutes on low flame and switch off the flame.
