Paneer Kali Mirch / Black Pepper Paneer
Paneer kali mirch is a very tasty and easy to prepare cashew onion based thick gravy dish made with paneer and flavoured with black pepper powder. Paneer kalimirch goes well with naan, chapathi and rice.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Paneer Kali Mirch / Black Pepper Paneer.
Ingredients:-
Paneer. -250 gm
Onion. -2
Cashews. -10
Garlic chopped .-1tsp
Ginger chopped.-1tsp
Yoghurt. -1tsp
Green chillies. -3 slit
Cinnamon stick. -1 small
Cloves. -3
Cardamom. -3
Bay leaf. -1
Garam masala. -1/2 tsp
Pepper powder. -1tsp
Water. -as required
Salt. -to taste
Ghee. -2 tbsp
Kasuri methi. -1/2 tsp crushed
Coriander leaves. -few
Instructions:-
1). Slice paneer into cubed pieces. Slit green chillies .Chop onion, ginger and garlic into small pieces. Keep aside.
2). Heat 1tbsp ghee in a pan. Add cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom and cashews into the pan and saute well.Add chopped onion, slit green chillies, chopped ginger, chopped garlic and saute well. Add yogurt and 1cup of water into the pan and boil it for 5 to 7 minutes on medium flame or till the onion pieces become translucent and cashews become soft. Switch off the flame and transfer all the above ingredients on a plate to cool.
3). Once cooled discard cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom and slit green chillies and grind the boiled ingredients (cashews, onion, ginger, garlic, yogurt) to a smooth and thick paste adding little boiled and cooled water. Keep aside the ground thick cashew onion paste mixture.
Method:-
1). Heat 1tbsp of ghee in a pan and add 1 bay leaf into the pan and saute well.
2). Add ground thick cashew onion paste mixture into the pan and mix well.
3). Add required salt and 2 cup of water into the pan and mix well. Boil the gravy for 2 to 3 minutes on low flame. Add garam masala powder and black pepper powder into the boiled gravy and mix well.
4). Add paneer cubes into the gravy. Add crushed kasuri methi and mix well.
5). Boil the paneer gravy for a minute and switch off the flame. Garnish the paneer kali mirch gravy with few coriander leaves.
Paneer Kali Mirch / Black Pepper Paneer is ready to serve with naan, chapathi or rice.
