Brined Amla Pulissery is known as Avlya Pulchikkery in Konkani.Amla is also called Gooseberry.
Gooseberry is rich in Vitamin C.
Thisi is a traditional Curd based Curry from Konkani Cuisine.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare this delicious Avalya Pulchikkery.
Ingredients:-
Brined Gooseberry. - 6
Water. -3 cup
Salt. -to taste
Hing powder. -1 tsp
Curd. -1 cup
For grinding Coconut Masala paste:-
Grated Coconut. -1 cup
Green chilly. -5
Jeera. -1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder. -1/4 tsp
For Seasoning:-
Coconut Oil. -1tsp
Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
Methi seeds. - 6
Red chilly. - 2
Curry leaves. -1 spring
Instructions.:-
Remove the seeds of the Brined Gooseberry and chop into small pieces. Keep aside.
Grind the Brined Gooseberry pieces into a nice paste.Keep aside.
Grind Coconut grating, Green chillies, Jeera and Turmeric powder to a smooth paste.Keep aside.
Method:-
In a vessel mix both the ground paste.
Add Hing powder and 3 cup of Water and give a boil by continuous mixing.
Check Salt and add Salt if needed. Switch of the flame.
Heat Coconut oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds.Add dry Red chillies broken into two halves.Add Curry leaves and fry it for a second. Switch off the flame.
Add 1cup whisked Curd and mix everything well.
Avalya Pulchikkery /Brined Gooseberry Pulissery is ready to serve with steamed Rice.
