GREEN PEAS CURRY


Green peas Curry is a tasty side dish. The recipe is simple and easy to prepare and goes well with plain Rice, Roti, Naan, Chapathi, Idiappam, Puttu and  with steamed Basmati Rice.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare this Green Peas Curry

Ingredients:-

Green peas.                  -1 cup
Salt.                              -to taste
Mustard seeds.             -1tsp
Ginger.                         -a small piece crushed
Garlic flakes                 - 4 crushed
Green chillies.              -2
Curry leaves.                -1 spring
Tomato.                        -2 medium size
Onion.                          -1 large
Coriander powder.        - 2tsp
Red chilly powder.        -1tsp
Turmeric powder.          -1/4 tsp
Garam Masala powder. - 1/2 tsp

Coconut oil /Oil.            -2tbsp
Thick Coconut milk.     - 25gram packet [instant
]
Coriander leaves.           -few for garnishing[optional]

Instructions:-

Wash and soak 1cup Green peas for 8 hours or overnight.Pressure cook the soaked Green peas with 2 cup of Water and little Salt for 3 whistles until soft.Keep aside.

Peel and crush a small Ginger piece and slightly crush 4 Garlic flakes and keep aside.

Finely chop one big Tomato and keep aside

Finely chop a medium size Onion and keep aside.

Half slit 2 Green chillies and keep aside.


Finely chop few Coriander leaves for garnishing and keep aside.[optional]

Add 25g Coconut Milk powder to 140ml luke warm water and stir well to make Thick Coconut Milk.Keep aside.


Method:-

Heat Coconut oil/ Oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds.

When the Mustard seeds splutter add the crushed Ginger and Garlic and saute well.

Add half slit Green chillies and 1spring Curry leaves and saute for 1 minute on medium flame.

Add finely chopped Tomato pieces and Onion pieces and saute well till Onion becomes translucent and Tomato become mushy. Saute well on low flame  for 2 minutes.

Lower the flame and add Coriander powder, Red chilly powder, Turmeric powder, Garam Masala powder and stir well.

Add the cooked Green peas with little Water and  required Salt and mix well.Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low flame for 2 minutes.

Add the instant Thick Coconut Milk .When it begins to boil on low flame switch off the flame.


Garnish the Green peas curry with chopped Coriander leaves.[optional]

A tasty Green peas Curry with Coconut Milk is ready to serve with Rice, Chapathy, Idiyappam, Aappam, Puttu as a side dish. Serve hot to get the real taste of the Curry
