JEEVA PAPAYA PHALA RAMDAYE / Raw Papaya Gravy



Raw Papaya is called Jeeva Papaya Phal and Curry is called Ramdayi in Konkani.
Raw Papaya has many nutritional value.It is rich in Vitamin and contain essential nutrients, minerals and vitamins.Raw Papaya is good for digestion and immune system.We can make varities of dishes with raw Papaya.This delicious Papaya gravy goes well with Rice, Chapathi, Roti or Phulka.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare this Raw Papaya Gravy.

Ingredients:-

Raw Papaya.        -1 small

Salt.                      -to taste.


For Seasoning:-

Coconut oil.          -2tsp

Cuin seeds/Jeera.  -1tsp
Ginger.                   - a small piece
Garlic cloves.         -5
Onion.                    - 1 medium size
Tomato.                  -2 medium size
Turmeric powder.   -1/4 tsp
Coriander powder.  -2tsp
Red chilly powder.  -1tsp
Coriander leaves.    -few for garnishing



Instructions:-


Peel the skin of a small Raw Papaya and cut lengthwise.Remove the seeds,wash and chop the Papaya into square pieces, about 2cups.Boil the Papaya pieces in little water till soft and firm  and keep aside.

Peel and wash Ginger and finely chop them.Keep aside.

Peel and chop Garlic into small pieces and keep aside.

Finely chop Onion and keep aside.

Finely chop Tomato and keep aside.

Clean, wash and finely chop Coriander leaves and keep aside.



Method:-


Heat Coconut oil/Oil in a Pan and add Cumin seeds,  chopped Ginger, chopped Garlic and finelly chopped Onion and  sprinkle a pinch of Salt and saute well till the Onion change its colour and become translucent.


Add chopped Tomatoes and saute well till the Tomatoes become mushy.

Lower the flame and add Coriander powder, Red chilly powder and Turmeric powder and mix well.

Add the boiled Papaya pieces and saute well.Add required Salt and 1/4 cup of water and mix well.

Close the Pan with a lid and cook for 2 minutes.


Add the finelly chopped Coriander leaves and switch off the flame.

A yummy Raw Papaya Gravy is ready to serve
 with Rice, Chapathi or Roti .
