Papaya is called Papaya phal in Konkani It has many nutritional benefits.Raw Papaya is rich in Vitamins and contain essential nutrients and Minerals and Vitamins.Raw Papaya is good for digestion and immune system.The recipe is from Vidhya, one of my friend in Bangalore.We can make varieties of dishes with Raw Green Papaya.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare this Papaya Peanuts Masala Curry.
Ingredients:-
Raw Papaya. -a small one
Salt. -to taste

For grinding the Coconut Masala Powder:-
Coriander seeds -1/2tsp
Cumim seeds/Jeera. -1tsp
Peanut - 1/4 cup
Kashmiri Red Chillies. - 6
Coconut grating. -1/4 cup
Turmeric powder. - a pinch
Amchur powder. - a pinch (optional)
For Seasoning:-
Coconut oil. -1tbsp
Urad dal. -1/2tsp
Mustard seeds.-1tsp
Garlic -5
Onion. -1 medium size
Green chillies. -2
Curry leaves. - 1 spring

Instructions:-
Peel the green skin of a small raw Papaya and cut the Papaya lengthwise.Then remove the seeds.Clean,wash and chop them into square pieces.In a small pan or vessel boil 1cup of Water.Add the chopped Papaya pieces and cook till soft but not mushy. Keep aside the cooked Papaya pieces.
In a pan dry roast Ground nut till crispy and keep aside.In the same pan dry roast Coriander seeds, Jeera and Kashmiri Red chillies till crispy and add the Coconut grating and roast till nice aroma comes and the Coconut becomes little brown in colour. When cooled, grind the above roasted ingredients along with roasted Ground nut to a little coarse powder. Allow the ground Coconut Masala powder to cool. Then add a pinch of Turmeric powder and a pinch of Amchur powder. Mix well and keep aside the ground Coconut Masala powder.
Peel and slightly crush the Garlic and keep aside.
Wash and half slit Green chillies and keep aside.
Peel and finely chop Onion and keep aside.
Method:-
Heat 1tbsp Coconut oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds and add Urad dal and saute well.Add the slightly crushed Garlic, half slit Green chillies, Curry leaves and finely chopped Onion.Add required Salt and saute well till the Onion becomes translucent.
Add the cooked Papaya pieces into the pan and saute well.
Add the ground Coconut Masala powder into the pan and saute well till the Masala powder nicely coated with the Papaya pieces and cook for a minute on low flame and switch off the flame.
A yummy, very tasty and lip smacking Papaya Peanut Masala Curry is ready to serve.
Serve this Papaya Peanut Masala Curry as a side dish with steamed Rice.
