Green Cucumber is known as Taushe in Konkani.Taushe Sassam is a famous Konkani dish.In Toushe Sassam curry we use raw Mustard seeds.Hence the curry is called Sassam. Taushe Sassam is a traditional Kochi GSB style Cucumber Mustard Curry.We can prepare varieties of Konkani dishes with Green Cucumber.
Cucumber Sassam is prepared by cooking the green Cucumber in Coconut Masala paste and Curd. Raw Mustard seeds are added while grinding the Coconut Masala paste.No seasoning is needed to this Green Cucumber Mustard Curry as Mustard is already added in the Masala paste.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare this delicious Cucumber Mustard Curry/ Taushe Sassam.
Ingredients:-
Green Cucumber. -2 cup chopped
Salt. -to taste
Curry leaves. - 1spring
Curd. -2 cup whisked
For grinding the Coconut Masala paste:-
Coconut grated. - 1 cup
Green chilly. - 4
Mustard seeds. -1/4 tsp
Instructions:-
Peel the skin of Green Cucumber and chop them into small pieces. Keep aside.
Wash and half slit Green chillies lengthwise and keep aside.
Crush 1/4tsp raw Mustard seeds using mortar and pestle.Keep aside.
Grind 1cup grated Coconut with 4 half slit Green chillies and 1/4 tsp crushed Mustard seeds into a coarse paste with little Water. Keep aside.
Method:-
In a vessel cook the chopped green Cucumber pieces adding Salt and little Water.
Add the ground Coconut Masala paste to the cooked Cucumber pieces.Add required Water to make a semi thick consistency. Mix well and bring it to boil and cook it for 2 minutes in low flame.
Add 1spring fresh Curry leaves and mix well.Then switch off the flame.
When the Curry is cooled add 2 cup whisked Curd and mix well .Donot boil the Curry after adding Curd.
A tasty Taushe Sassam/ Green Cucumber Mustard Curry is ready to serve as a side dish with hot steamed Rice.
