The following ingredients are needed to prepare Coconut Chutney You can make thick or thin Coconut chutney by adding or without adding Water according your preference and goes well with Dosa,Idli etc.
Ingredients:-
Coconut oil. -1tsp
dry Red chillies. -2
Fried gram. - 2tsp [pottukadala]
Coconut grated. -1/2 cup
Tamarind. -a small chickpea size l

Curry leaves. -few
Water. - as per need
Salt. -to taste

For Seasoning:-
Coconut oil. - 1tsp
Mustard. -1tsp
Cumin seeds. -1/2tsp
Dry Red chilly. -1 broken into two halves
Curry leaves. - few
Method:-
Heat 1tsp Oil in a pan and roast dry Red chillies.Add fried gram, Coconut grating,Curry leaves and tamarind and roast for few seconds and switch of the flame.
Grind the roasted above ingredients together with required Salt and little boiled and cooled water to a smooth paste to make a thin chutney.You can grind the roasted items without adding Water to make it thick chutney.
Heat 1tsp Oil in a pan for seasoning and splutter Mustard seeds and Jeera and saute well.
Add broken dry Red chilly bits and few Curry leaves and fry for a second. Then switch off the flame.
Pour this seasoning into the Coconut Chutney.
Coconut Chutney (thick or thin) is ready to serve with Dosa, Idli etc.
