RICE APPE / Soft Rice Appe filled with Onion & Green chilly .

Rice Appe is a healthy breakfast. Rice Appe filled with Onion,Green chilly and Salt mixture can be served with Chutney or Pickle along with a cup of hot tea or Coffee.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Rice Appe adding Onion &Green chilly 

Ingredients:-

Urad dal.      - 1cup
Raw Rice.    -2 cup
Poha.           -1/2 cup
Onion.          -2 big
Green chilly. -3

Salt.             -to taste


Instructions:-

Wash and soak Urad dal and Raw Rice in Water seperately for 4 hours

Wash and soak 1/2 cup Poha in Water for 4 hours.

Remove the outer skin of 2 big Onion, wash and finely chop the Onion and Keep aside.

Wash 3 Green chillies and chop them into thin roundels Keep aside.

In a small mixing bowl add the finely chopped Onion pieces and Green chilly pieces and mix well with little Salt and keep aside the Green chilly Onion Salt mixture.

Grind the soaked Urad dal and soaked Raw Rice along with soaked Poha and make the batter to a dosa batter consistency.

Keep the batter overnight or for 12 hours for fermentation.

Add Salt and mix well the fermented batter and keep aside..



Method:-

Heat Appe tawa (Appe mould) and when it become hot add 1tsp oil in each Appe mould (depression).

Mix the fermented batter with a laddle and take a laddle of batter and pour it into 3/4 of each Appe mould.

When it is half cooked add 1tsp Onion, Green chilly,Salt mixture on the surface of the batter and fill the mixture by adding little Appe batter over it.

Reduce the flame and cover the Appe tawa with a lid and cook for 2 minutes.

When the lower surface becomes golden colour take out each appe with a knife or with a spoon from each mould and turn each Appe up side down to cook the other side, (upper surface) for 2 minutes.

After both sides are cooked and become light brown, remove the flipped Rice appes and transfer to a plate.

Soft Rice Appe filled with Onion & Green chilly is ready to serve.

Serve Rice Appe hot with coconut chutney or any pickle or as it is.

Repeat the above process with  the remaing Appe batter and make Rice Appe in batches.
