Shallot is called Piyavu and Coconut is called Narlu in Konkani.Piyavu & Narla Tambali is a very tasty and mouth watering Shallots and Coconut Chutney goes well as a side dish with Dosa, Masala Dosa, Idli, boiled Tapioca , Rice, Rice gruel [Kanji] etc.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Coconut and Shallots Chutney.
Ingredients:-
Shallots. -10
Dry Red chillies. - 5
Tamarind. - a gooseberry size.
Grated Coconut. -1/2 cup
Salt. - to taste.
Coconut oil. -2 tsp
Instructions:-
Peel the outer skin and chop the Shallots roughly and keep aside.
In a small pan roast dry Red chillies in little oil on low flame till crisp and keep aside.In the same pan add the Shallots and roast for a minute on low flame and keep aside.
Soak Tamarind in 2 tbsp boiled and cooled Water for 5 minutes and keep aside.

Method:-
Grind the roasted Red chillies, grated Coconut, roasted Shallots, soaked Tamarind along with soaked Water and required Salt to a smooth paste .
Transfer the ground Coconut and Shallots Chutney to a vessel.
Pour 1tsp Coconut oil and mix with the ground Coconut and Shallots Chutney.
A very tasty, little hot, mouth watering and lip smacking Coconut and Shallots Chutney is ready to serve as a side dish with Dosa, Idli, Masala dosa and also a side dish with Rice, Rice gruel (Kanji) etc.
