Shallot is called Piyavu in Konkani. Piyava Thambali is a lip smacking and mouth watering Shallots Chutney goes well as a side dish with Rice, Idli, Dosa, Masala dosa. boiled Tapioca etc.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Piyava Tambali /Red Chilly Shallots Chutney.
Ingredients:-
Shallots. -20
Dry Red chilly. -10
Tamarind. - a lemon size
Salt. - taste
Coconut oil. -2tsp
Instructions:-
Peel the outer skin of the Shallots and keep aside.
Heat a small pan on low flame and dry roast dry Red chillies till crisp and keep aside.
In the same pan add little Coconut oil and roast the peeled Shalots till soft and fragrant.Keep aside.
Method:-
In a mixer grinder add the roasted Red chillies.
First grind the roasted Red chilies along with Tamarind and required Salt to a rough paste.
Then add the roasted Shallots in the mixer grinder and grind all the ingredients together to a smooth paste without adding water.
Transfer the ground Chutney in a serving bowl.
Pour 2tsp Coconut oil on the top and mix with the ground Red chilly Shallots Chutney.
A very tasty, little hot and mouth watering Piyava Tambali / Red Chilly Shallots Chutney is ready to serve as a side dish with Idli, Dosa, Masala Dosa, boiled Tapioca or Rice.
