Vermicelli Upma.


Vermicelli Upma is a simple, healthy and delicious south Indian breakfast.The following ingredients are needed to prepare Vermicelli Upma.

Ingredients:-

Vermicelli              . -1cup
Urad dal.                 -1tsp
Mustard seeds.       -1tsp
Ginger.                    - a small piece.
Curry leaves.           -1spring
Onion.                      - 1big
Green chillies.          - 4
Green peas(frozen). - 1/4 cup
Tomato.                     -1big
Turmeric powder.      -1/4tsp
Water.                        -2 cup
Ghee/ Oil                 . - 4 tbsp

Instructions:-

Wash and finely chop Tomatoes and keep aside.

Peel, wash and finely chop Onion and keep aside.

Peel, wash and chop Ginger into small pieces and keep aside.

Wash and half slit Green Chillies and keep aside.

Method:-

Heat 2tbsp Ghee or cooking Oil in a pan and roast the Vermicelli until golden brown and transfer to a plate and keep aside.

In the same pan add 2tbsp Ghee or cooking Oil and splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.

Add Urad dal and saute well until Urad dal becomes light brown.

Add Curry leaves, half slit Green chillies, chopped Ginger pieces and fry well in oil.

Add finely chopped Onion and sprinkle required Salt and saute well until Onion becomes translucent.

Add frozen Green peas and saute well

Add finely chopped Tomato and saute well.

Add Turmeric powder and mix well.

Add 1/4 cup Water and mix well.Cover the pan with a lid and cook on low flame for 3 minutes/until the Green peas and Tomato pieces cooked well.

Add 1and 3/4 cup of Water and mix all the ingredients and boil well.

Add the roasted Vermicelli into the boiling Water and mix well.

Cover the pan with the lid and cook on low flame until water completely absorbed and the roasted Vermicelli is cooked well.Keep stirring in between to prevent from sticking. Switch off the flame.

Garnish with finely chopped Coriander leaves and mix well.



A tasty and delicious Vermicelli Upma is ready to serve hot.
