A tasty and delicious sundal made with Black Chickpeas, Spicy Masala Powder and grated Coconut.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Kala Chana Sundal / Black Chickpea Sundal.
Ingredients:-
Black Chickpeas. - 3cup boiled
Salt. - to taste
Grated Coconut. -3tsp
Hing powder. -1/2tsp
Coriander leaves. -few for garnishing.
For grinding the Spicy Masala Powder :-
Chana dal. -2tsp
Coriander seeds. -2tsp
Red chillies. - 4
Coconut oil. -1/2 tsp for roasting
For Seasoning:-
Coconut oil. -1tsp
Mustard seeds. -1/2tsp
Curry leaves. -2 spring
Instructions:-
Wash and soak Black Chickpeas in water overnight. Pressure cook the Chickpeas adding sufficient water and Salt for 6 whistles and keep aside.
Heat 1/2 tsp Coconut oil in a pan and roast Red chillies till crispy and keep aside on a plate. In the same pan roast Chana dal and Coriander seeds seperately and keep aside on a plate.Grind the roasted ingredients together to a smooth powder. Keep aside the Spicy Masala Powder.
Method:-
1. In a wide bottom kadai heat 1tsp Coconut oil and splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.Add Curry leaves and saute well.
2. Add the cooked Black Chickpeas into the kadai and saute well.
3. Add the ground Spicy Masala Powder. Saute well and mix with the cooked Black Chickpeas for 2 minutes on low flame.
4. Add grated Coconut and mix well with the gorund spicy Masala powder.
5. Add Hing Powder and required Salt and mix well on low flame.
6. Sprinkle little water and mix all the ingredients together. Stir well till the Spicy Masala Powder nicely coated with the Chickpeas and switch off the flame.
7. Garnish with finely chopped Coriander leaves .
