Baingan Bhaja / Fried Aubergine Slices


Eggplant is called Baingan / Aubergine. Baingan Bhaja / Fried Aubergine Slices are a very tasty and delicious tawa fried slices of Eggplant. Tawa fried Aubergine slices / Baingan bhaja is served hot as a snack or as a side dish with rice and dal..

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Baingan Bhaja / Fried Aubergine Slices.

Ingredients:-

Eggplant/Aubergine.   - 2 large Baingan
Salt.                              - to taste
Red chilly powder.       - 4tsp
Turmeric powder.          -1tsp
Ginger Garlic paste.       - 4tsp
Oil.                                  - 2tsp
Oil.                                   - for tawa frying

Instructions:-

1. Wash 2 large Eggplants /Aubergine [Baingan] and pat dry with a clean cloth.

2. Cut the Eggplant into 1/2 inch thin round slices and keep aside.

3. In a mixing bowl add Red chilly powder, Turmeric powder, Ginger Garlic paste, a pinch of Salt and 2tsp Oil. Mix well all the above ingredients in the mixing bowl together and keep aside the paste.

4. Apply the paste to each Eggplant slices / Aubergine slices [Baingan slices] from the mixing bowl and marinate the slices for 5 minutes and keep aside the slices on a plate.

Method:-

1. Heat a tawa with little oil. When tawa is hot, place the marinated Eggplant slices/ Aubergine slices [Baingan slices] on it and fry on medium flame.Fry until reddish golden on one side.

2. Turn the slices over and fry and cook well the other side until golden brown colour.

3. When Aubergine slices / Baingan slices become soft on inside and become crisp and golden brown on out side, remove from hot tawa.

4. Remove the fried Aubergine slices / Brinjal slices from hot tawa and keep on a tissue paper in a bowl. Tawa fry the remaining Baingan slices /Aubergine slices in the same manner.

5. Keep the tawa fried Eggplant slices / Baingan slices / Aubergine slices on a serving plate.A very tasty Baingan Bhaja / Fried Aubergine Slices are ready to serve hot as a snack or as a side dish with rice and dal.

Instructions:-
