Bilimbi Chutney / Bimbla Chutney



Bilimbi fruit is called Bimbul in Konkani. Bilimbi Chutney / Bimbla Chutney is a coconut based side dish also called Bimbla Gojju in Konkani, made with Bilimbi fruits. A very tasty and delicious Bilimbi Chutney / Bimbla Chutney [Bimbla Gojju] goes well as a side dish with Dosa, Idli and also with Rice.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Bilimbi Chutney /Bimbla Chutney [Bimbla Gojju].

Ingredients:-

Bilimbi/ Bimbul. -5
Coconut pieces.  -1cup
Dry Red chillies. - 5
Garlic cloves.      - 3
Salt.                     - to taste 

Coconut oil.         -1/2tsp


Instructions:-

Wash the Bilimbi fruits and chop into small pieces and keep aside.

Peel the Garlic cloves and keep aside.

Heat 1/2tsp oil in a small pan and roast the Red chillies and keep aside.

Chop the Coconut into small pieces and keep aside.


Method:-

Grind the chopped Bilimbi pieces along with roasted Red chillies, chopped Coconut pieces, Garlic and Salt to a fine paste without adding water.

Transfer the ground Chutney to a serving bowl.


Add 1/2 tsp Coconut oil on the Bilimbi Chutney and mix well before serving.

A very tasty and delicious Bilimbi Chutney / Bimbla Chutney [Bimbla Gojju] is ready to serve as a side dish with dosa, Idli and also with rice.
