Theryachi Patal Bhaji (Colocasia leaves Curry)


Theryachi Patal Bhaji (Colocasia leaves Curry) is a Konkani style tangy and spicy curry made with tender Colocasia leaves, Colocasia roots and Bilimbi fruits.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Theryachi Patal Bhaji (Colocasia leaves Curry).

Ingredients:-

Colocasia leaves. -25 [tender leaves]
Colocasia roots    - 6
Bilimbi/ Bimbul.  - 8
Chilly powder.      - 3tsp
Hing powder.        -2tsp
Coconut oil.          -2tbsp +1tbsp
Mustard seeds.      -1/2tsp
Salt.                       -to taste

Instructions:-

Devein the Colocasia leaves. Wash well and chop into small pieces and keep aside.

Remove the outer skin of the Colocasia roots and chop into 1/2 inch lengthy pieces. Wash well and keep aside.


Wash and chop the Bilimbi fruits into small roundels and keep aside.

Method:-

Heat 2tbsp Coconut oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.

Lower the flame and add Chilly powder and Hing powder and saute well for a second.

Add chopped Colocasia roots, chopped Colocasia leaves, chopped Bilimbi pieces and required Salt. Saute well.

Add 3 cups of water and cook on low flame till the Colocasia leaves are completely cooked to a fine paste and the chopped Colocasia roots become soft.

Switch off the flame and add 1tblsp Coconut oil and mix the Curry well.

A very tasty Theryachi Patal Bhaji (Colocasia Leaves Curry) is ready to serve with Rice.
