Chole Green Masala / Chole Dhania Masala also known as Kabuli Chana Masala Curry is a spicy and tasty white chickpea curry cooked in freshly ground coriander leaves, green chilly, coconut masala paste.A very delicious side dish goes well with chapathi, phulkas, paratha, roti, naan, rice etc.A detailed recipe and step by step method is explained with photos.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Chole Green Masala / Chole Dhania Masala /Kabuli Chana Masala Curry..
Ingredients:-
Kabuli Chana (Chole). -1cup
Onion. -2 medium size
Tomato. -2 medium size
Garam Masala powder. -1tsp
Salt. - to taste
Oil. - 3tbsp
Coriander leaves. - few for garnishing
For grinding Coriander Green chilly Coconut Masala paste:-
Grated Coconut. -1cup
Coriander leaves. - a bunch
Green chillies. -3
Ginger. - a small piece
Garlic. -1 or 2 cloves
Instructions:-
1. Wash and soak Kabuli Chana / Chole /white Chickpea in water for 8 hours and pressure cook adding required water for 3 whistles and keep aside.
2. Wash and finely chop Tomatoes and keep aside.
3. Peel wash and finely chop Onion and keep aside.
3. Peel the outer skin and wash a small piece of Ginger and keep aside.
4. Peel the Garlic cloves and keep aside.
5. Clean and wash the Coriander leaves and keep aside. Keep aside few Coriander leaves for garnishing.
6. Grind the grated Coconut along with Coriander leaves, Green chillies, a small Ginger piece and Garlic cloves to a fine paste adding 2tbsp of water and keep aside the Coriander Green chilly Coconut Masala paste.
Method:-
1. Heat oil in a pan and add the finely chopped Onion and saute well till the Onion pieces become translucent.
2. Add the finely chopped Tomatoes and saute well till the Tomato pieces become soft.
3. Add the ground Coriander Green chilly Coconut Masala paste into the pan.
4. Add required Salt and 1/4 cup of water into the pan and mix the ground masala with the cooked Onion and Tomato pieces.
5. Mix well. Cover and cook for 2 minutes on low flame till the raw smell of the ground masala goes off.Saute in between.
6. Add the cooked Chole/ Kabuli Chana into the pan.
7. Saute well. Boil and cook for 2 minutes on low flame.
8. Add Garam masala powder into the pan and mix well. Cook for few minutes on low flame till the ground masala nicely coated with the cooked white Chickpeas/Kabuli Chana. Switch off the flame.
9. Transfer the dry and spicy Chole Green Masala / Chole Dhania Masala to a serving bowl.
10. Garnish the Chole Green Masala with few Coriander leaves.
