Churakka Curry also known as Chorakka Curry or Surakai Curry is made with Bottle gourd and spice powders. Churakka/ Bottle gourd is a healthy vegetable and has many health benefits. It provides cooling effect, helps digestion, treats sleeping disorders. Churakka Curry is a simple and delicious gravy dish goes well with rice.A very easy to make recipe and step by step mehod with photos.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Churakka Curry /Spicy Bottle gourd Curry.
Ingredients:-
Bottle gourd. -1
Tomato. -3
Onion. -3
Coriander powder. -2tsp
Turmeric powder. -1/4tsp
Red chilly powder. -1tsp
Garam Masala powder. -1/2tsp
Cumin seeds. -1tsp
Coconut oil. -1tbsp
Salt. -to taste
Instructions:-
Peel the outer skin, wash well and chop Churakka / Bottle gourd into medium cubes.
Peel and finely chop Onion and keep aside
Wash and finely chop Tomatoes and keep aside.
Method:-
1. Heat oil in a cooking pan and splutter Cumin seeds. Add finely chopped Onion and a pinch of Salt.Saute well till the Onion pieces become translucent.

2. Add finely chopped Tomato and saute well till the Tomato pieces become mushy.
3. Add Coriander powder, Red chilly powder Turmeric powder and Garam masala powder and mix well with the cooked Onion and Tomato pieces.
4. Add chopped Churakka / Bottle Gourd cubes and mix well.
5. Add very little water and required Salt.Mix well and cover the cooking pan.Boil and cook the Churakka / Bottle gourd cubes till soft on low flame. Switch off the flame.
6. Transfer the Churakka Curry to a serving bowl.
A tasty Churakka Curry /Spicy Bottle gourd Curry is ready to serve with rice.
