Tomato Pulichikeri is a Konkani Recipe.Tomato Pulichikeri also known as Tomato Pulisseri is a Konkani style coconut based Tomato Curd Curry goes well with rice.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Tomato Pulichikeri / Tomato Pulissery.
Ingredients:-
Tomato. - 4 medium size
Green chillies. -2
Curd. -1 cup
Salt. - to taste
For grinding Coconut Masala paste:-
Grated Coconut. -1 cup
Dry Red chillies. -5
Turmeric powder. -1/4tsp
For Seasoning:-
Coconut oil. -1tsp
Mustard seeds. -1tsp
Cumin seeds (Jeera). -1/2tsp
Curry leaves. -1 spring
Instructions:-
Wash the Tomatoes and roughly chop into pieces and keep aside.
Wash and half slit Green chillies lengthwise and keep aside.
Whisk the Curd adding little water and keep aside.
Grind the grated Coconut along with dry Red chillies and Turmeric powder to a smooth paste adding 1/4 cup of water. Keep aside the ground Coconut Masala paste.
Method:-
In a wide bottom pan add the roughly chopped Tomatoes, half slit Green chillies and 1cup of water. Boil and cook on low flame till the Tomato becomes soft.
Add required Salt and mix well.
Add ground Coconut Masala paste into the pan and mix with the cooked Tomato pieces. Boil and cook for 2 minutes on low flame and switch off the flame. Allow the curry to cool.
When the Curry is little cooled add the whisked Curd and mix well.
Check for Salt and add little Salt if needed.
Heat Coconut oil in a pan for seasoning. Splutter Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds (Jeera) and saute well. Add Curry leaves and fry for a second. Switch off the flame.
Pour the above seasoning into the Tomato curd curry in the pan..
Transfer the Tomato curd curry to a serving bowl.
A very tasty, delicious, little sour and spicy Tomato Puilchikeri is ready to serve with rice.
