Gabya Karambi [GSB Konkani Recipe] / Lemony Banana Stem Salad


Banana stem is called Gabbo in Konkani. Gabya Karambi is a GSB Konkani style healthy, tasty and crunchy lemony banana stem salad made with tender banana stem mixed with onion, green chilly, salt and lemon juice.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Gabya Karambi /  Lemony Banana Stem Salald.

Ingredients:-

Banana stem. - a small tender piece.
Onion.            -1
Green chilly.  -1
Salt.                -to taste
Lemon.           -1

Instructions:-

1. Wash and chop a tender Banana stem / Gabbo into thin round pieces. Then finely chop the thin round pieces  of Banana stem and keep aside.

2. Wash and finely chop the Green chilly and keep aside.

Method:-

1. In a mixing bowl add the finely chopped Green chilly pieces and required Salt and mix well thoroughly with your finger tips.

2. Add the finely chopped Onion pieces and mash with the finely chopped Green chilly pieces.

3. Add finely chopped Banana stem pieces into the mixing bowl and mix well.

4. Chop and squeeze a lemon into the mixing bowl and mix all the ingredients in the bowl with the lemon juice.

5. Keep aside the Lemony Banana Stem Salad for few minutes to rest. 

A tasty and crunchy Gabya Karambi /Lemony Banana Stem Salad is ready to serve as a side dish with rice and dal curry.
