Kelya Sukke / Raw Banana Sukke / Konkani Recipe.


Kelya Sukke is a Konkani style raw Banana dry masala curry made with raw Robusta Banana.A delicious and easy to make recipe and step by step method with photos.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Kelya Sukke.

Ingredients:-

Raw Robusta Banana. -4
Salt.                              -to taste

Dharambe sol.              - a small piece  (kudam puli)

For Coconut dry Masala :-

Grated Coconut.    -1 cup
Red chilly powder. -1tsp
Turmeric powder.   -1/4tsp

For Seasoning:-

Coconut oil.      -2tsp
Urad dal.           -1tsp
Mustard seeds. -1tsp

Instructions:-

1. Peel the skin of raw Robusta Bananas and wash well.


2. Chop the raw Robusta Banana into small pieces and keep the chopped pieces into the water to prevent dis colouring.

3. Mix the freshly grated Coconut along with Red chilly powder and Turmeric powder using your hands. Keep the Coconut Spice powder mixture on a plate.


Method:-

1. Heat Coconut oil in a pan and add Urad dal and saute well. Splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.


2. Drain water completely and add the chopped Banana pieces into the pan.

3. Add required Salt, a small piece of Dharambe sol (kudam puli) and 1/4 cup of water into the pan and mix well. 


4. Cover and cook on low flame till the Banana pieces become soft. Saute in between.


5. Add the Coconut Spice powder mixure into the pan.

6. Mix the Coconut  Spice mixture with the cooked Banana pieces.Saute well till the water completely absorbs and the curry become dry .Switch off the flame.

7. Transfer the Kelya Sukke / Raw Banana Sukke to a serving vessel.



A very tasty Kelya Sukke/ Raw Banana Sukke is ready to serve as a side dish with rice and dal curry.
