Chole Masala / Chana masala Recipe
Chana masala also known as chole masala is a very tasty and delicious side dish made with white chickpeas /kabuli chana, tomato, onion and spice powders goes well with bhatura, naan, chapati, phulka, puri, paratha, bread and rice.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare Chole Masala / Chana Masala Recipe..
Ingredients:-
White chickpeas. -1 cup
Onion. -2 large
Tomato. -1 big
Red chilli powder. -1tsp
Turmeric powder. -1/4 tsp
Garam masala. -1/2 tsp
Amchur powder. -1/2 tsp
Coriander leves. -1/4 cup
Salt. -to taste
Coconut oil. -2 tbsp
Instructions:-
1). Wash and soak white chickpeas / kabuli chana in water overnight. Pressure cook the soaked white chickpeas for 3 whistles adding a pinch of salt and sufficient water to cook.Keep aside
2). Wash and roughly chop onion and grind to a smooth paste without adding water and keep aside.
3). Wash and roughly chop tomato and grind to a smooth paste without adding water and keep aside.
4). Wash and finely chop coriander leaves and keep aside.
Method:-
1). Heat coconut oil in a wide bottom pan and add ground onion paste into the pan and saute well on low flame for 2 minutes.
2). Add ground tomato paste into the pan and saute well on low flame for another 2 minutes.
3). Add red chilly powder and turmeric powder into the pan and saute well.
4). Add garam masala powder and amchur powder into the pan and mix well.
5). Add cooked white chickpeas and required salt into the pan and mix with all the ingredients in the pan.Cook on low flame till the gravy becomes little thick and saute in between.
6). Lastly add finely chopped coriander leaves and mix well. Switch off the flame and transfer the chole masala /chana masala to a serving bowl.
A very tasty Chole Masala / Chana Masala is ready to serve.
