White Chickpeas Green Gram Masala Curry
White chickpeas green gram masala curry is a very tasty and easy to prepare coconut masala curry goes well with rice.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare White Chickpeas Green Gram Masala Curry.
Ingredients:-
White Chickpeas.-1 cup
Green gram. -3/4 cup
Bilimbi fruits. -3
Salt. -to taste
For grinding Coconut Masala Paste:-
Grated coconut. -1 cup
Dry red chilly. -7
Turmeric powder.-1/4 tsp
For Seasoning:-
Urad dal. -1tsp
Mustard seeds.-1tsp
Curry leaves. -1 sprig
Coconut oil. -2 tsp
Instructions:-
1). Wash and soak white chickpeas and green gram seperately overnight. Wash and chop bilimbi fruits into thick round pieces.Drain soaked water and pressure cook soaked white chickpeas and soaked green gram together along with chopped bilimbis and sufficient water for 2 to 3 whistles.Keep aside the cooked white chickpeas, green gram, bilimbi pieces and cooked water.
2). Grind grated coconut along with dry red chillies and turmeric powder to a smooth paste adding very little water. Keep aside the ground coconut masala paste.
Method:-
1). In a thick bottom vessel add the cooked white chickpeas, green gram and bilimbi pieces along with cooked water. Add required salt into the vessel. Mix well and boil on low flame.
2). Add ground coconut masala paste into the vessel and mix well. Boil and cook the curry on low flame for 4 to 5 minutes and switch off the flame.
3). Heat 2 tsp coconut oil in a small pan for seasoning. Add urad dal and saute well. Splutter mustard seeds. Add dry red chilly pieces and curry leaves into the pan and fry in oil for a second.Switch off the flame and pour the seasoning into the masala curry in the vessel and mix well.
Very tasty White Chickpeas Green Gram Masala Curry is ready to serve hot with rice.
