RAJMA CURRY/ Kidney Bean Curry

Rajma Curry is a protein rich Kidney Bean Curry.One of the healthiest and easy to make.
Rajma is rich in Iron and help to maintain blood pleasure.

Rajma Curry is a popular North Indian dish cooked in a spicy Onion Tomato Masala, goes well with Steamed Rice,Roti,Chapathis,Bread and Naan.There are many ways of cooking Rajma  Curry.You can use any type of Kidney beans for this recipe.-Red Kidney beans/ or Dark Purple Kidney Beans.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare this delecious Rajma Curry.

Ingredients :-


Rajma.   -1 cup

Salt.        -to taste

For Seasoning :-


Oil.                       -14tsp
Jeera.                    -1tsp
Garlic.                   -3
Ginger.                  -1 small
Onion.                   -1 medium size
Green chilly.          -2
Coriander powder. -2 tp
Red chilly powder. -1tsp
Turmeric powder.   -1/4tsp
Tomato.                   - 4
Coriender leaves.    -a bunch
Butter.                     -1 cube

Instructions:-


Wash Rajma thoroughly to remove any dirt and debris.Soak the washed Rajma in required Water for 8 hours or Overnight.

Drain the soaked Water and transfer the Rajma into a Pressure cooker.Add 2 cup Water and little Salt and cook for 6 whistles. Remove from flame and let the pressure releases naturally before opening the lid.Do not open the lid immediately as the beans may not have cooked fully yet and steam inside the Pressure cooker will make to cook them well.

Check Rajama.If they are not cooked soft, add little more Water if required and cook for 2 more whistles.Rajma have to be cooked very well. It should melts in your mouth when you bite.Otherwise  it affects your stomach.The perfect texture and flavour of the Rajma is attained when it is soaked for 8 hours and cooked well till soft.

Finely chop Garlic without skin.Keep aside

Remove the outer skin,wash and finely chop the Ginger piece.Keep aside.

Finely chop Onion and keep aside.

Wash and half slit Green chillies and keep aside.

Wash and blend the Tomatoes in a blender to make Tomato Puree.Keep aside.

Clean,wash and finely chop Coriander leaves and keep aside.

Method:-


Heat 4 tsp Oil in a pan add 1tsp Jeera, 3 Garlic flakes finely chopped, 1' piece of Ginger chopped,2 medium size Onion finely chopped, 2 half slit lengthwise Green chlillies respectively and saute for 1 minute till the Onion becomes little translucent and the raw smell of Garlic goes well.

Lower the flame and add 1tsp Red chilly powder, 2tsp Coriander powder, 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder and saute well.

Add Tomato puree made from 4 Tomatoes and add required Salt.Mix well.

Add 1 bunch of Coriander leaves finely chopped and mix well.

Add the cooked Rajma and mix well.

Lastly add 1cube Butter and once the gravy become thick switch off the flame.

A tasty yummy Rajma Curry is ready to serve with steamed Rice /Chapathy / Roti/ Bread/ Naan etc.
