Lemon is called Nimbuvo and Lemon Rasam is known as Nimbuvya Saaru in Konkani.It is one of the Lemon flavoured tangy Rasam with Dal.Lemon contain good amount of VitaminC.It is very easy to prepare this thin Rasam. It tastes delicious with lemon flavour.This delicious Lemon Rasam goes well with hot steaming Rice.
The following ingredients are needed to prepare this Dal Lemon Rasam.
Ingredients:-
Tur dal or split Moong dal -1/2 cup
Turmeric powder. - 1/4 tsp
Salt. -to taste.
Coriander leaves. -1 bunch
Lemon juice. -from a large Lemon
For Seasoning:-
Coconut oil. -1tsp
Jeera powder. -2tsp
Pepper powder. -1tsp
Green chilly. -5
Instructions:-
Wash and Pressure cook 1/2 cup Tur dal or split Moong dal for 3 whistles on medium flame adding 2 cup of Water till soft.Mash the Dal and keep aside.
Wash and half slit Green Chillies lengthwise and keep aside.
Clean, wash and finely chop Coriander leaves and keep aside.
Wash, chop and squeeze a large Lemon and extract Lemon juice and keep aside.
Method:-
In a cooking vessel transfer the pressure cooked Dal and add 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder, required Salt and Water to make a thin consistency.Stir well and boil for 2 minutes and switch off the flame.
Heat 1tsp Coconut oil in a pan on low flame and add Jeera powder, Pepper powder and half slit Green chillies. Saute and fry the Green chilies for a second and switch of the flame.
Add the above seasoning into the cooked dal and boil for few minutes.
Add finely chopped Coriander leaves and boil for a minute and switch off the flame and remove from the flame.
When cooled squeeze the Lemon juice over the Rasam and mix well.Donot boil the Rasam after adding Lemon juice as it looses it's flavour and tastes.
Tangy, tasty, and delicious Dal Lemon Rasam/ Nimbuvya Saaru is ready to serve with hot steaming Rice.
