PALAK PANEER

Palak paneer is a popular Paneer dish made of Palak leaves and Paneer cubes. This delicious dish can be made in many ways.Paneer is a fresh cheese made by curdling the boiled milk with Lemon juice. Paneer cubes are available in Super markets. Paneer is rich in Calcium and Protein.Palak leaves are healthy spinaches and are rich in Iron, Calcium and Vitamins.Palak Paneer is a healthy dish goes well with Plain Rice, Roti, Naan etc.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare this delicious Palak paneer dish.

Ingredients:-

Paneer.                       -200 gram
Palak leaves.              -2 big bunch
Green chillies.            - 4
Cumin seeds/ Jeera.    -1tsp
Tomato.                       -2 big
Onion.                         -1 large
Ginger paste.               -1tsp
Garlic paste.                -1/2 tsp

Red chilly powder.       -1tsp
Coriander powder.       -1tsp
Garam Masala powder.-1tsp

Cashewnuts.                 -10
Kasoori methi leaves.  -1/2 tsp [dry]


Instructions:-

Chop the Paneer cubes into small cubes and keep them in hot water to make them soft.Drain and keep aside.

Clean, soak and wash Palak leaves in water and rinse the leaves well. Keep them in a colander to drain water completely and keep aside

Peel and finely chop Onion and keep aside.

Wash and finely chop Tomatoes and keep aside.

Soak Cashew nuts in hot Water for 15 minutes and grind to a fine puree.Keep aside the ground Cashewnut paste.

Crush the dry Kasoori methi  leaves using your hands and keep aside.


Method:-

Heat 1tsp Oil in a pan and add chopped Palak leaves and stems. Saute well till the Palak leaves wilt and become dark green.

When cooled grind the Palak leaves with Green chillies to a smooth puree.Keep aside the ground Palak puree.

Heat 2 tsp Oil in the same pan and add Cumin seeds [Jeera] and saute well.

Add finely chopped Onion and fry well till the Onion becomes translucent and reddish brown.

Add Ginger paste and Garlic paste and fry for a minute till the raw smell goes away.

Add Red chilly powder and Coriander powder and saute well on low flame.

Add the finely chopped Tomato pieces and saute well till the Tomato turns soft and mushy.

Lower the flame and add the ground Palak puree and mix well.

Add chopped Paneer cubes and mix well.

Add Garam Masala powder and mix well.

Add  the crushed dry Kasoori methi leaves and mix everything well and cook for 2 minutes until it begins to boil and the gravy thickens and then switch off the flame.

The consistency of the Palak Paneer gravy is thicker.

Add the ground Cashewnut paste on the top of the Palak Paneer gravy and mix well to make the dish more tasty.


Transfer the Palak Panner gravy to a serving bowl.


A  very tasty and delicious Palak Paneer is ready to serve as a side dish with Plain Rice, Roti, Naan, Pulao etc.
