Breadfruit Fritters [Landhe Gudhgya Phodi-Konkani snack]

Breadfruit is called Lande Gudhgo and deep fried thick Breadfruit pieces are called Landhe gudhgya
phodi in Konkani.A firm and matured Breadfruit is used for making this tasty Breadfruit fritters.The following ingredients are needed to prepare Breadfruit Fritters.



Firm and matured Breadfruit


Ingredients:-

Breadfruit.            - a firm and mature piece of a breadfruit.
Besan flour.           - 4 tbsp
Red chilly powder. -1 tsp

Hing powder.         -1/2tsp
Salt.                       -to taste.
Oil.                         - for deep frying.

Instructions:-

1. Take a firm and matured Breadfruit and chop into two halves vertically.



2. Wash, peel and remove the skin and core of the Breadfruit.Th Core is the middle  portion of a Breadfruit known as Mhav in Konkani .Chop the Breadfruit into little thick pieces and keep aside.



3. In a mixing bowl add Besan flour, Red chilly powder, Hing powder  and Salt. Add required Water [about 1/4 cup] to make a little thick batter[not watery] and mix well without any lumps and keep aside.




Method:-

1. Heat oil in a kadai for deep frying on medium flame.

2. When the oil become hot dip the chopped thick beadfruit pieces one by one into the Chilly mixture in the bowl and slowly drop the evenly coated Breadfruit pieces into the hot oil and deep fry till golden colour.



3. Flip the fried Breadfruit pieces in between with a deep frying spatula to cook the Breadfruit pieces on all sides till golden colour.



4. When fried well remove from hot oil and keep the Breadfruit fritters on a paper towel to absorb the excess oil.

A tasty, and delicious Breadfruit Fritters/Landhe Gudhgya Phodi is ready to serve as a evening snack with hot tea or coffee.
