Dhevo Attano [White peas] Humman -konkani recipe

Peas is called Attano in Konkani.Both.Green peas and White peas can be used for making this Peas Curry.The recipe is very simple and quick to make and goes well with Plain Rice, Chapathi or Phulka.White Peas[Dhevo Attano] is used in this recipe.Green peas also makes the Curry more tasty and delicious.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare Peas Curry.

Ingredients:-

White Peas. -1 cup
Salt.             - to taste


For Seasoning:-

Coconut oil/cooking Oil. -1tsp
Mustard seeds.                 - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves.                    - few
Red chilly powder.           -2tsp
Turmeric powder             -a pinch
Hing powder.                   - a pinch( optional


Instructions:-

Wash and soak  White peas for 8 hours or overnight.

Pressure cook the soaked Peas along with 1cup Water for 4 whistles or till soft and tender.Keep aside.

In a mixing bowl add Red chilly powder ,Turmeric powder and Hing powder.Add 2 tbsp Water and mix all the powders well in water. Keep aside.



Method:-

Heat Oil in a pan and splutter Mustard seeds and saute well.

Add Curry leaves and fry for a second.

Lower the flame and add Red chilly powder, Turmeric powder and Hing powder mixture and saute well.

Add finely chopped Tomato pieces and stir well.

Cover and cook for a minute till the Tomato become little soft.

Add the pressure cooked Peas along with Water and Salt. Mix well and boil for few minutes and switch off the flame.

The consistency of the Curry/ Hummaan is little Watery.So adjust more or less Water and boil for 2 minutes.

A tasty and delicious Peas Curry/Devo Attano Humman is ready to serve with plain Rice, Chapathi etc.
