Bikkand Tallele / Deep fried Jackfruit Seeds.


Jackfruit Seeds are called Bikkand in Konkani. Bikkand Tallele is a crispy and soft deep fried snack made with Jackfruit seeds.

The following ingredients are needed to prepare the above snack. 

Ingredients:-

Jackfruit seeds.     -10
Red chilly powder. -1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder.   -1/4tsp
Hing powder.          -1/4tsp
Salt.                        -to taste
Oil.                          -for deep frying

Instructions:-

1. Peel the white outer skin of the Jackfruit seeds and soak them in water overnight.



2. Scrap and remove the brown outer skin of the soaked Jackfruit seeds and keep aside .



3. In a vessel put the Jackfruit seeds, little Salt and enough water to immerse the Jackfruit seeds. Boil for 10 minutes and donot over cook the Jackfruit seeds.

4. Remove the seeds from boiled water and keep them in a mixture of Red chilly powder,Turmeric powder, Hing powder, a pinch of Salt and very little of water. 



5. Soak for few minutes and transfer the Jackfruit seeds from the spice mixture to a plate.


Method:-

1. Heat oil in a pan on medium flame for deep frying.

2. Add the Jackfruit seeds one by one slowly into the hot oil and stir gently. Deep fry the Jackfruit seeds till crispy and reddish in colour.

3.The deep fried Jackfruit Seeds become soft inside and crisp out side.

4.Remove the deep fried Jackfruit seeds from hot oil with a slotted spoon and transfer to a serving plate.



5. Deep fried Jackfruit seeds / Bikkand Tallele are ready to serve with Rice or as a snack.
